Duke of Edinburgh Award @ Inside Out
We are thrilled to now be in a position to offer the Duke of Edinburgh Award to all Outcrafters here at Inside Out. This page contains a lot of the need to know information you will all needs as parents and Outcrafters. It also has helpful links to the DofE Website.
Bronze | £115.00 (pp)
This cost covers & includes:
- a contribution fee towards the overall licencing fee
- registration for your child with DofE
This will include access to the eDofE portal online, a welcome pack posted to your home and your child's personal discount card.
- an assigned mentor who will regularly support and guide young people through their DofE program.
At the heart of the DofE program is a core foundation of enabling young people to find success; this means that many of the decisions young people make should be their own. While the team will scaffold and support these decisions; they will rely on participants proactive approach to ideas.
- up to four preparation & practice sessions, including training to support the Bronze expedition
- a practice expedition weekend
- the cost of the Bronze DofE Expedition (including campsite hire)
- exclusive DofE discounts.
Silver | £235 (pp)
This cost covers & includes:

What to expect from the Bronze DofE Award
The foundation and starting block for the entire DofE Award. The bronze award will take at least six months to complete. Each stage of the award will ask young people to complete four unique sections:
- Volunteering
- Skills
- Physical
- Expedition
For the Bronze Award, all participants must complete three months of volunteering, skills and physical; along with an additional three months in one of the three sections. Which one that is, is entirely up to the participant.
For the final section, participants will need to plan, train and complete an expedition. For the bronze expedition, participants must:
- have a Team Goal to achieve during the expedition;
- attend and gain training that will support the challenges of the expedition;
- take part in an expedition that lasts at least two days and one night, with 6 hours of planned activity each day;
- plan and travel a route of their own choosing to a set location;
- carry all equipment needed for the expedition, including camping equipment, food, cooking equipment and clothing;
- work together as a team to complete all of the above.

What to expect from the Silver DofE Award
The second stage of DofE - the Silver award will take at least nine months to complete. Like the Bronze award, Silver will ask participants to complete four unique sections for set periods of time:
- Volunteering (6 Months)
- Skills (6 or 3 months)*
- Physical (6 or 3 months)*
*One of the two must be six months and the other three.
- Expedition (3 Days & 2 Nights)
For the expedition section, participants will need to plan, train and complete the silver expedition, which will build on the requirements of the bronze, asking participants to:
- have a set Team Goal to achieve during the expedition;
- attend and gain training that will support the challenges and increased demands level of the expedition;
- take part in an expedition that lasts at least 3 days and 2 nights, with 7 hours of planned activity each day;
- plan and travel a route of their own choosing to a set location;
- the route and environment covered as part of the hike should show progression and challenge in comparison to the Bronze Award;
- carry all equipment needed for the expedition, including camping equipment, food, cooking equipment and clothing;
- work together as a team to complete all of the above;
- create and deliver a final presentation*
